Automated and Inclusive Feedback with AI

PAIN POINTS
  • Overly verbose feedback generated by AI can overwhelm learners and reduce uptake of feedback
  • High cognitive and time demands are required to locate the specific sentence-level issues being referenced
  • Text-only feedback formats may not be the most comprehensible for learners with specific learning needs and preferences

Utilising a GenAI-powered formative feedback application that annotates student writing through colour-coded, in-text highlights and delivers concise guidance on hover. The tool additionally supports dyslexia-friendly display settings and an optional Chinese-language feedback mode to enhance accessibility and equitable participation in the feedback process.

Guidelines on the

Use of Artificial Intelligence for Learning and Teaching

Following the approval by the Vocational Education and Training Policy and Quality Committee on 16 April 2024 , the Guidelines on the Use of Artificial Intelligence for Learning and Teaching developed by the Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) is now accessible by clicking the button below.

On top of the Guidelines on Proper Use of Artificial Intelligence at Work issued by the Central IT in March 2024, the CLT’s Guidelines are intended to emphasise the need for teachers to validate the use of AI technologies on their ethical and pedagogical aspects for learning and teaching.

For VTC degree programmes or other programmes offered by the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), the use of Generative AI is governed by a set of guidelines approved by THEi separately.
